The Alhambra is a group of separate areas, not one palace you can see in a single pass. The Nasrid Palaces, Alcazaba, Partal and Generalife each have their own place in the visit. This planning guide uses official information checked on October 19, 2026 to compare an order for the day and two places to stay in Granada. No travel date or party size was supplied, so it does not confirm ticket inventory or hotel rooms.
Keep your Nasrid Palaces slot separate from complex hours
The official Alhambra FAQ says that if you miss your timed Nasrid Palaces entry, you lose the right to visit that area. Do not assume you can join the next queue and enter later. When you book, check both the date and the Nasrid Palaces time on your ticket, and confirm which entrance you need for that slot.
Read the ticket name and included areas before choosing a product. The General Day Visit includes the Nasrid Palaces, Partal, Alcazaba and Generalife. The official ticket site also lists garden-focused and night visits separately. A product with “Alhambra” in its name does not necessarily include the same palace access as every other ticket.
The published daytime opening hours are 08:30 to 18:00 from October 15 through March 31, and 08:30 to 20:00 from April 1 through October 14. All times shown are local time in Granada. Those are the general hours for the complex; they do not replace your timed Nasrid Palaces entry. The official calendar lists December 25 and January 1 as closure days. Check for temporary notices and the actual ticket on sale for your date as well.

Carry your original passport and QR ticket
Tickets are issued in the visitor's name and are personal. The official ticket guidance asks visitors to show the original identity document or passport together with the QR ticket. You can present the QR code on paper or on a screen, but a photo of your passport on your phone is not described as a substitute for the original ID. If you are booking from abroad, compare each visitor's name with the passport details used for the booking and bring that passport.
If one person is keeping the group's tickets, check the details for every visitor. Children under 12 who qualify for a free ticket still need their own ticket, according to the guidance. Do not skip the ticket process because admission is free; check the age and ID conditions during booking. This guide does not determine individual discount eligibility by a child's age or nationality.
The FAQ says the date and time cannot be changed once a purchase is confirmed. If you have already fixed a train or departure from another city on the same day, make sure the Nasrid Palaces slot fits that arrival before paying. If your trip to Granada is still flexible, arranging transport around the palace time can help avoid a clash. Treat unofficial offers to transfer or change a ticket separately from the official terms.
Plan the city departure, complex arrival and palace meeting point separately
Split the approach into three parts to see where you need extra time: getting from your hotel to the Alhambra area, passing the ticket and ID checks at the entrance you use, and walking to the Nasrid Palaces entrance. A single Alhambra pin on a map does not make those three steps one arrival.
The official visit-planning guide recommends arranging the order around your Nasrid Palaces slot and gives an average visit time of about three hours. That average should not be treated as covering travel from the city, a meal, luggage storage or personal breaks. Leave a generous block of time in the morning or afternoon, rather than booking a meal or onward departure immediately afterward.
There is a separate rule if you need to buy or collect a ticket at the box office. The official ticket guidance says that purchase or collection of a ticket including the Nasrid Palaces must be completed at least one hour before the palace slot. This is not a universal one-hour entry deadline for every visitor who already has a QR ticket. Even with a QR ticket, allow time for the entrance checks and the walk to the palace.
Choose whether to walk uphill from the city or take a bus based on your hotel, luggage and walking needs. The official access information mentions the Cuesta de Gomérez route and city connections such as C30 and C32 as ways to plan the approach. Check the stop and service changes for your date, then leave time for the remaining walk to the palace. This guide does not promise a departure time or a door-to-door journey in a set number of minutes.
Use a different visit order for an early and a late palace slot
For an early Nasrid Palaces slot, first make sure you can reach the palace entrance on time, then consider visiting the other included areas afterward. Seeing all of the Generalife before turning back to the palace only works if you have allowed enough time for the actual walking route and entrance checks. Share the slot with your group so a photo stop does not make anyone lose track of it.
With an afternoon slot, you may be able to visit other included areas first and then make your way to the palaces. Think about how much walking you want to do after the Alcazaba steps, and where you can take a permitted break. In winter the complex closes at 18:00, so check the entry conditions for each area before assuming you can fit every garden in after a late palace slot.
Scroll the table sideways. With a keyboard, move focus to the table and use the arrow keys.
| Your ticket situation | Fix this first | What you can adjust |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning palace slot | Original passport, ticket and palace meeting point | Included areas and a break after the palaces |
| Afternoon palace slot | Time to return to the palace entrance | How much of the earlier route to walk |
| Checkout or onward travel day | Luggage storage and pickup, then departure | Cut extra sightseeing after the visit |
Official guidance also says each included area can be visited once. Do not plan to leave a palace or garden area and return later to fit in a meal or collect your luggage. On checkout day, ask the hotel when and where it can hold your bags, and keep the transfer from pickup to the station as a separate part of the plan.
If only some people in your group are visiting the palaces, or you walk at different speeds, keep each person's ticket straight and choose a specific meeting place. A spot beyond an admission checkpoint is different from an area that anyone can reach. Agree on how to reconnect after the visit, including what to do if phone service is unreliable, instead of assuming everyone will meet at the same time.

Choose between the Alhambra hillside and the city centre
The best base depends on whether your trip revolves around an early palace entry or several days of walking around Granada's old town. Staying on the Alhambra hill puts you near the monument area, while dinner in the city can leave you with an uphill return. A city-centre hotel makes meals and other walks easier to combine, but you need to allow time to get uphill on the morning of your visit.
Alhambra Palace Hotel: when you want to stay by the monument area
The hotel's official address is Plaza Arquitecto García de Paredes, 1, 18009 Granada. Agoda and Trip.com show the same name and address. It is one option to compare if the Alhambra hillside is the focus of your stay or you want to return to the hotel to rest after the visit. “Palace” in the hotel name does not mean that it is inside the Nasrid Palaces or behind the admission controls, and you still need a separate ticket.
If you expect to have dinner in the city, think through the return trip as well. Before booking, check the route from the hotel door to the specific palace meeting point. Ask whether breakfast works with your departure, and whether the hotel can hold luggage before check-in or after checkout. Confirm the bed setup and cancellation terms for the room you choose. The hotel's nearby location does not guarantee a particular room view or admission on your visit date.

Anacapri: when city walks and meals are part of the plan
The hotel's official address is C. Joaquín Costa, 7, Centro, 18010 Granada. The Anacapri detail pages on both booking services show the same address. Compare it if you want to stay in central Granada for meals and walks, then travel uphill to the Alhambra on your visit day. Treat a booking site's distance to a landmark as separate from the walk to the actual palace entrance.
The trade-off is a separate morning journey for an early slot. The official access guidance describes limits on vehicle access in the city centre and routes suited to the hotel. If you are driving, ask the hotel for its directions instead of following only the shortest route suggested by navigation. Check whether breakfast fits your departure and how luggage storage works before and after checkout. A room name that includes “family” or “triple” does not confirm the capacity or bed setup until you check the specific offer for your dates and group.

These two hotels were checked against their listed names, addresses and detail pages on October 19, 2026. No stay dates or party size were supplied, so this is not a comparison of current rates or available rooms. Enter the same dates, number of adults and children, and room count on both services; compare bed setup, breakfast, cancellation deadlines, taxes and required fees. Ask each hotel whether it can hold your luggage on the day you plan to visit.
Check current notices and your luggage before leaving
The official ticket page currently displays notices about the Alcazaba reopening and adjusted visitor routes, along with protection and restoration work in the Nasrid Palaces' Golden Room Courtyard. Do not assume that you can follow the route shown in a photo on your visit date; follow the latest instructions on site. An old notice about tree work should not be treated as a route change that still applies after its stated dates.
Official guidance restricts backpacks larger than 40 by 40 centimetres and does not allow strollers inside the Nasrid Palaces, Generalife Palace or Alcazaba. Check where to leave any restricted items and how to manage a visit with a child before you go. The route includes stone paving, stairs and dirt paths, so choose shoes and bags for that terrain. Eat and drink only in permitted areas.

What if I am late or the ticket details are wrong?
Have your booking confirmation and original ID ready, then ask the official staff or ticket support desk for help. Check the official FAQ and the terms of your purchase for any exception, such as correcting a name. This guide does not promise re-entry or a refund after a missed slot. Borrowing another visitor's ticket or looking for an uncontrolled entrance is not a solution.
Does a daytime ticket include a night visit to the palaces?
The official site lists daytime and night products separately. The areas, dates and day-of-week conditions may differ, so check what the product you want includes. Do not carry over the daytime route in this guide to a night visit; plan around the Nasrid Palaces time printed on your own ticket.
